How does Lidonostrum Gele 2% act in the body?
Lidonostrum Gele 2% contains lidocaine, a local anaesthetic that acts by blocking the propagation of the impulse along nerve fibers, thus preventing pain signals to reach the brain, and therefore relieving pain.
Indicated for superficial anaesthesia and lubrication
Of the urethra
Before cystoscopies, insertion of urinary catheter, urethral dilations or other endourethral procedures
Of nasal and pharyngeal cavities
In endoscopic procedures, such as upper digestive endoscopy and bronchoscopy.
During procto-rectoscopy
During tracheal intubation
For pain relief in children after circumcision
Symptomatic treatment
Of pain related to cystitis and urethritis
The recommended posology must be rigorously followed for the different situations. When used for the lubrication of endotracheal tubes precaution is recommended so that the gel does not get inside the tube since the gel can turn solid and cause obstruction.
Excipient(s) with known effect: Methylparaben; Propylparaben. These may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).

How does Lidonostrum (ointment) act in the body?
Lidonostrum (ointment) contains lidocaine, a local anaesthetic that acts by blocking the propagation of the impulse along nerve fibers, thus preventing pain signals to reach the brain, and therefore relieving pain.
Indicated for superficial anaesthesia and lubrication
Stomatology
Superficial anaesthesia of the gums prior to injection, deep tartar removal or insertion of dental prosthesis
Herpes zoster and
cold sores
Temporary relief of pain
Irritation
- Sore nipples;
- Insect bites;
- Anesthesia of the mucous membranes (haemorrhoids and anal fissures)
Pain relief
Proctoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, cystoscopy and endotracheal intubation
Temporary relief of the pain
Caused by burns and mild skin abrasion, such as sunburns
Do not use in children for the treatment of large areas of the skin due to the level of absorption in injured skin surface.
Using the medicine in the mouth or throat may interfere with swallowing and there is a danger of aspiration. This is important, particularly in children.
Avoid any contact with the eyes.
This medicinal product contains 250 mg of propylene glycol per each gram of ointment.
